Trivia Two of the film's theme songs are sung by Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. User reviews 26 Review. They don't do anything unique or strong enough to feel like they actually threaten any of the protagonists.
Also the setup for the clash of heroes vs villains is incredibly uninteresting; seeing which characters are afflicted for basically a gag rather than for a conflict resolution.
Overall this is the least-interesting of the "modern" films starting with Strong World. It does nothing new to the dynamic of the heroes, its rogues are fairly bland, and the only thing keeping this film above water is the film's conclusion. They are simply there as an audience anchor. There are no new dynamics entertained and the villains are so feeble that the tension is non-existent. Zephyr makes for a great tragic character but serves little purpose as a "villain.
It was Kuzan that stopped the Dyna rocks by freezing and the marines that killed Z. It is true that it was Luffy that destroyed his weapon and i'm not going to argue about this. The Navy is also capable of doing that, with ease. I saw One Piece anime for the first time. The voice of the character was different from what I had imagined in the manga, but it was so fun.
I love One Piece so much. Their fights are very simple and nothing amazed me except the good use of camera. Nothing leaves me deep feeling, I don't sympathize with the character at all, it feels like something is missing and untold.
Furthermore, except Luffy, others' fights are very weird, they didn't struggle to win at all. The first time the enemy appeared, they were very strong and dangerous.
However, later, without much effort, the others can win easily, which makes the enemy looks like clowns. Z and Luffy's fight is also weird to me. It didn't show much of Luffy's and Z's skills in the fight, it shows the skills of the animators instead. Some points of the movie are confusing as well. This film is about Z, a character who we officially not allowed to 'know' yet, I think that's the reason why it lacks of many things to make a good movie.
They're not allowed to be spoiled and it's an unknown event, that's why it's hard to make. However, if it's about rating this movie which must have a good plot and convey it well , I can't bring myself to rate higher.
I'm disappointed. I can't express in words of how amazing this movie is. All I have to say is go watch it for yourself. This review will be broken down into four parts: Music, Animation, Characters and Story. Music: If you watched the trailers, you know that two tracks of Avril Lavigne would be played in the movie but you won't hear that until the credit rolls.
The original soundtrack was brilliant. It was different while at the same time maintaining that One Piece feel we all love; high tension to melancholy themes that played throughout different scenes. The action scenes were animated far better than anything I've ever seen in previous One Piece movies or the anime.
The angles and camera movements following every scene was done fluidly. Characters: The title of the movie is quite self-explanatory. The movie focused on Z, at times even more than the Straw Hat gang.
Character Z, also known as Zephyr had such deep story to him and if you love backstories of various characters in One Piece, you'll definitely love Z's.
As for our lovable characters, the Straw Hats each got their turns to shine in this movie, however the stronger and prominent fighters such as the Monster Trio Luffy, Zoro and Sanji had their own individual opponent to fight. Franky was the next in line after the Monster Trio. Usopp also had good action scenes, but not quite on the same level. Nami and Robin at times were used for fan-service until the climactic battle at the end.
Chopper was funnier than ever before, but not entirely important to the story. Brook didn't do a lot in terms of getting into battles, but he had his comedic moments just like Chopper. Story: This movie as an entirety was built around the Marine lore and back story.
This will have it's drawbacks for some though. The story had lots of explanation regarding the principle themes of the Marines and some characters were basically used strictly just for the sole purpose of providing exposition. To fit the plot in a movie length time span, it was surprisingly well done.
This was one huge gripes that I had with Oda's previous project, Strong World was a bit of a let down. With Film Z, I feel that he understood what it took to make a movie that retains the breathtaking aura of One Piece series, and he delivered it.
I'd be surprised if this movie doesn't win major awards in Japan, it surely deserves the Best Animated Japanese Film Awards.
Perhaps it should even be nominated in Oscar Awards Best Picture because this movie just nailed it. Oh yes episode one piece please be accelerated Dunk make I've been watching movies from one piece strong world really pull ya say the same curious z movie one piece movie to make one piece cartoon remains a passion for creating an interesting episode episode Main character who aspires to be a pirate king after Shank redhead stopover on the island of his birth, Fusha, his straw hat given to him so that one day he must return it if it met again.
Straw hats which later became his trademark. Gomu-Gomu fruit eaters, can make all the body stretched like rubber, not hit by a bullet and anti-power, but it is very weak against sharp weapons. Always give the word "Gomu-Gomu" before knowledge. Have a "Gear 2", which is pumping up his blood pressure smoky but not destroyed his organs because he contortionist so his body became very fast and add the word "jet" before the attack example: Gomu-Gomu no jet pistol.
In this mode the fist to be very fast to not look glance looks like a shot. Having another mode "Gear 3" capable of raising the body so gigantic bones go bigger because it is made of rubber in the mode of attack Luffy to be very strong, but slow.
Adding the word "gig ant" before the attack example: Gomu-Gomu gig ant pistol. One of the three members of the group's strongest straw hat. Value of million berry bounty. Let me stress that I liked the movie, but I feel some points worth mentioning about it.
First while Z is a good villain. But you can tell that the ending will definitely a battle between him and Luffy so that all previous battles will end in his favor or his escape. This takes out a lot of tension and could be solved by some better sidekicks for Z. Second is the navy seriously trying to catch him?
After the first attack to come together and all say how dangerous he's and that he must be stopped. But they don't send any serious force after him. At the second island only one squad of the force send to stop is trying to do that while the rest is drinking in a bar and they couldn't even spare a vice-admiral for it only two captains and some regular grunts. Later the entire force of the marines with at least 5 vice admirals and 1 admiral arrives as the fighting virtually over, is this really the response to fight an ex admiral with a huge fleet who has gone crazy.
And why did Z need this fleet at all? Third, it seems like Z was never seriously considering to destroy the third endpoint as he could have done that when he arrived but he choose to wait for luffy and then after a rather inconclusive fight simply gives up and fights the navy to death. Fourth, it was off course completely nonsense for anyone who doesn't know one piece at least well.
Virtually none of the regular characters are introduced both for the strawhats and the navy. His anger against attacking Nami fuels him during his match, landing multiple kicks to Binz who struggles to keep up.
Sanji bursts into a ball of flames, using his new Sexy Fire move to finish him off. His powerful kick sends Binz crashing down below, as Sanji takes a moment to light a cigarette. Upon Ain's defeat, her effects begin to wear off. Nami grows back to her adult size, with the armor she is sporting now barely fitting her body.
Chopper reverts back growing slightly, along with Robin and Brook though it doesn't seem to shows any signs of change on him. The group head on to catch up with Luffy. Luffy finally finds Z waiting for him inside the volcano. He discards his jacket, as the two engage in a furious battle.
Luffy pounds away against his Battle Smasher arm, with Z calling his efforts useless. Their fight grows more intense, Luffy's shirt incinerating off him from Z's raw strength. He tells Luffy he cannot defeat his justice. Luffy unleashes his Gatling Gun punches, able to land a few brief hits on Z's body and break the rigging supporting the Battle Smasher on Z's arm. Z compliments Luffy on having courage for a pirate, remarking he is far braver than the Marines.
Z matches Luffy's hit with his Smash Blaster, both unable to push each other back. Z begins showing signs of fatigue, as the two rush and smash each others fists against one another as hard as they can. The force of the impact sends rippling shock waves along the volcano. The Straw Hats catch up to the battle, seeing Luffy had managed to leave an imprint of his fist inside Z's giant metal fist.
Z asks him why he wants to fight him so much. That even if he defeats him, nobody will thank him for his efforts for the stigma of being a pirate. Luffy responds if he can't defeat him, he will never be able to become the Pirate King. The Battle Smasher breaks then and there and falls from Z's arm, revealing a smaller mechanical arm he can still use. Z tells Luffy he is going to dedicate his life to ending his ambition, challenging him for a final bout. Z and Luffy activate their Armament Haki, their arms turning a hardened black.
The two engage in a brutal fist fight, both striking each other with imbued Haki. Kuzan is seen watching their match from a distance, stating "Black Arm" Zephyr has returned.
Z and Luffy both give each other hard punches to the chest and stomach, giving Luffy a moment to recoil and puke. Luffy strikes back a punch that knocks Z's glasses right off. A brief flashback is seen in his mind of his early childhood, rattling his early memories.
Z becomes elated, that he is being given such a good fight. Both Luffy and him are worn out, still pushing each other with punches back and forth. He corners Luffy and begins pounding on him, with Luffy showing little sign he can defend himself anymore. As Z begins to gain the upper hand, Luffy pushes him back with a kick. Fighting on their last reserves, Luffy shouts he is going to be the Pirate King with Z shouting his name in absolute confidence. After exchanging a few more blows to one another, Luffy finally collapses from exhaustion.
Z falls to the ground after, unable to fight anymore too. Z bitterly says he's gotten old, and his body can't keep up with him anymore. He finds it disappointing, telling Luffy he was enjoying fighting him. Z tells Luffy to finish him, but Luffy merely tells him he's already satisfied as he regains his straw hat, giving him a smile. He offers to continue fighting him but Z turns him down, also being satisfied. Z apologizes to Ain for giving her so such work. Ain begins crying for him, telling him she's happy he is alright.
However, the reunion is short-lived as Kizaru then arrives with his army, telling them he is going to kill them all. Z says he's done everything he's wanted to do, and now will face the price for it as he marches towards the Marine army. He dismisses Luffy, and tells him to leave the rest to him. Ain tries to rush to his side, but Kuzan summons a giant wall of ice dividing everyone from him.
Z begrudgingly accepts he's been given a place to die, as he faces the Marines head on. Even near death, his raw strength overpowers all the soldiers around him. Kizaru unleashes his Yasakani no Magatama attack, filling the sky with thousands of beams of light than rain down upon Z. He is hurt badly, filled with burning holes in his body but still stands against them. The Marines begin weeping, shedding tears for being forced to kill their beloved teacher. Z announces he will give them all their last training lesson, as he barrels forth giving his all for one last battle.
The Straw Hats depart the island, watching the battle unfold in grim silence as Z gives up his life to save them. Eventually Z is defeated and passes away offscreen. Ain and Binz visit his gravestone that has his Battle Smasher arm wrapped around the cross, still with the fist imprint on where Luffy struck it.
Kuzan tells the two not to cry for him, for he lived the way he wanted without any regrets. Kuzan remarks he was an incredible man. The movie ends in a flashback as a young boy dressed as a superhero and wielding a log on his right arm beats up bullies that were harassing a young girl.
As other kids cheer him on, the boy claims himself a hero of justice under the name "Z". During the credits, it is revealed that after Z's defeat, the Straw Hats returned to Dock Island one last time, to return the gear and weapons Mobston had given them. They bid them farewell, and Gari decided to become a pirate. Crash landing on an island after escaping a fight against the Marines , the Straw Hat Pirates decide to explore while Franky repairs and move the ship.
Luffy, Nami and Brook are relaxing in the pool as a Sea Horse attacks them. Sanji tell Luffy that he can make soup from the attacker so Luffy defeat the animal while the rest of the crew prepare for the party.
This special leads directly to the beginning of the film. They agree to help her and after finding Momonga and the Marines escorting him they begin the rescue mission. During the attack, Shuzo lead the Neo Marines attack in an attempt to kill Panz Fry and a three way battle commence. The Straw Hats eventually succeed in rescuing Panz Fry and escaping their adversaries, and start preparing the ingredients for Panz Fry's famous volcano cooking. The group is suddenly attacked by Shuzo, who tracked them using a Vivre Card he attached to Panz Fry and restart his attack on the Giant.
Luffy and Lily tries to fight back but are beaten. Lily asks Usopp to fire her into Shuzo's mouth in order to defeat him using her Devil Fruit powers , but Shuzo uses Luffy as a shield and Lily enter his mouth instead. Nonetheless, Lily still deactivates her power and with Luffy's own abilities combine, they defeat the Neo Marines.
Momonga capture and arrest Shuzo and head to Impel Down. The Straw Hats enjoy Panz Fry cooking and after promising to meet again, they go their separate ways. The Armani outfits used in the movie:.
