Park information. Each trail has highlights. The Wetland Boardwalk Trail explores floating boardwalk trails crossing lakes. The longest trail - Green Corridor Trail - explores all habitats including the bison herd and please make note - it may be challenging for some individuals. For birdwatchers the trails of Fort Whyte Alive lead to some great opportunities for bird sightings.

There are opportunities to view waterfowl, song birds and predator birds. In the fall the nature park is a migratory destination for Canada Geese and various species of ducks. Some of the various types of birds sighted at Fort Whyte Alive include loons, thrashers, grebes, thrushes, pelicans, kinglets, herons, bitterns, wrens, nuthatches, jays, swans, ducks, swallows, larks, flycatchers, eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, woodpeckers, kingfishers, coots, plovers, sandpipers, terns, hummingbirds, swifts, cuckoos, pipits, waxwings, vireos, warblers, grosbeaks, sparrows, blackbirds, orioles, finches and doves.

We will be back. Most of it is lovely, treed and well marked. Just not a fan of the stretch closer to IKEA especially on a cold windy day. A portion of the trail was closed when we went, but nice trail only a few bumps and a nice hill at the start. A great place to bike, jog, walk or hike. Nice, easy trail for an afternoon walk! Great easy trail! You will see everything from birds, bison, treehouses, old railroads, and tipis. Wonderful trail. Lots of animals to see and other cool things to watch for. Still early in the season so the trail is snowy and muddy, but still enjoyable. This trail is actually a combination of several shorter trails, so you can choose how much you want to walk.

Stunning sunset, 's of honking geese and gulls dotting the sky and horizon like black confetti- truly a marvel to witness Great staff are out on the deck taking in the experience with everyone, providing fantastic information about the migration process.

Great place to see buffalo and for nature lovers. There are great paths for walking and cycle paths through natural settings, You can usually see the buffalo from fairly close distance and there are many types of birds and small animals in the area as well.

There is an old thatched roof house that has all the old furniture and implements that the settlers used when they arrived on the prairies as well as some teepees further down the path. There are some tours and interpreters that can be arranged I think for some of the spaces.

There are many various activity days and nights that individuals or groups can sign up for to let you experience activities and living in the outdoors. The cafe is known for the fantastic and interesting food they serve with gorgeous views. The gift shop has many unique and beautiful gifts.

The educational centre is informative and popular with families as well as school groups. I have camped with groups in the cabins and the set up was really nice and can also be booked by families. The lakes are a bit murky for swimming but still refreshing and passable for swimming. Good for canoeing on. A visit to the Fort Whyte farm is definitely an added bonus, with chickens, pigs, bee hives, rabbits and gardens to see and learn about small, sustainable, organic farming methods. They also have a small farmer's market on certain days of the week in season.

Can you just go on a hike down the trails on your own? Joesph M. You can take a bus as far as Kenaston and McGillivray, but then you would have to walk minutes to get to Fort Whyte.
